Mark Yacano is a recognized innovator in the delivery of legal services. During his 25 years in the legal and business worlds, Mark has been a trusted advisor to corporate law departments working with corporate counsel on both business and legal strategy. It is his mission to help implement solutions that allow clients to improve the quality of the services provided, create an environment that fosters employee career development and allow more effective use of their financial resources.
As the Global Practice Leader, Managed Legal Services, Mark works with clients to develop outsourced talent solutions that allow them to reduce their legal fees while improving the quality of work performed on their behalf. The service offerings provided to legal departments include the development of robust contract management systems, dedicated contract negotiation and drafting teams, specialized legal research teams, law department spend analysis and compliance monitoring programs.
Before joining Major, Lindsey & Africa, Mark was Executive Vice-President of Hudson Legal where he was responsible for the strategic and operational management of the company. Under his leadership, Hudson successfully expanded the scope of its core services. Mark was also responsible for leading the company’s expansion of its discovery service offerings into the London market.
Mark began his legal career in the litigation group at Calfee, Halter & Griswold in Cleveland. He represented clients in products liability, insurance coverage, and commercial matters. Also, he represented municipalities and law enforcement agencies in defense of claims brought under 28 USC § 1983. Later at Wright Robinson, Mark helped establish one of the first dedicated eDiscovery practices in the country. He and his colleagues advised their clients on the use of innovative and cost-effective strategies for managing discovery in mass tort and pattern litigation. He also served as national discovery counsel to several Fortune 500 companies.
Mark was a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and chaired its Strategic Planning Committee. In 2008, he led the firm’s merger negotiations with LeClairRyan. At LeClairRyan, Mark continued to lead the firm’s Discovery Solutions Practice until he left the firm in 2010.
